Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Olympic medalist wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt has expressed his desire to contest the Haryana Assembly Elections 2024. He has said that he wants to contest from Gohana assembly seat in this election. Yogeshwar Dutt joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in September 2019. Let us tell you that the dates for Haryana Assembly Elections 2024 have been announced, in which voting will be held on October 1 and the results will be declared on October 4, 2024.
London Olympics bronze medallist Yogeshwar Dutt, while speaking to news agency ANI, said, “We have expressed our wish to the Chief Minister and the central leadership that we want to contest from Gohana. I have contested elections from BJP earlier too, and this time I want to get a chance to contest from Gohana.”
Why does wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt want to contest from Gohana seat?
Yogeshwar Dutt has a special attachment to Gohana because it is his birthplace. Dutt was born in Bhainswal Kalan village of Sonipat district of Haryana. His village comes under Gohana assembly constituency. That is why Yogeshwar Dutt has expressed his desire to contest elections from Gohana seat because this area is the center of his politics and personal connection. Yogeshwar Dutt has a good identity and popularity among the people of Gohana.
Let us tell you that Gohana assembly seat is a part of Sonipat district which is called the stronghold of Congress. Congress has been winning the last four elections from here continuously. In the 2019 Haryana Assembly elections, Jagbir Singh Malik of Congress scored a hat-trick of victory from Gohana assembly seat. Jagbir Singh Malik has been an MLA continuously since 2009. In 2005 also, Dharampal Singh Malik of Congress had won from Gohana.
