The new government of Bharatiya Janata Party in Haryana will take oath on October 17. Earlier there were reports that the Saini government would take oath on October 15, but then the date of October 17 was fixed. The reason why the date was changed is now clear. Actually 17th October is Valmiki Jayanti. By taking oath on this day, BJP wants to give a special message to the Dalits. Let us tell you that the Haryana government has already declared a public holiday in the state on the date of birth of the author of Ramcharitmanas. In Valmiki sect, Valmiki Jayanti is celebrated as Pargat Day. It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be present in the swearing-in ceremony.

BJP’s performance in Haryana was not good in the Lok Sabha elections held this year. It was able to win only five out of 10 seats here. But things have completely changed for the BJP in the recent assembly elections. After winning the assembly elections, BJP is going to form the government in Haryana for a record third time. BJP’s strength in Jatland and its hold on Dalit-OBC votes have played an important role in this victory. In the Lok Sabha elections, these Dalit-OBC votes had gone to the Congress’s account.

Apart from this, the role of public welfare schemes of the government has also been very important. In this, the cylinder for Rs 500 and the introduction of Lado Laxmi Yojana on the lines of Ladli Behan Yojana of Madhya Pradesh was special. These schemes attracted Dalits and women voters towards the party. According to Indian Express, a senior BJP leader said that BJP is the only party which has given respect to the poor, backward people and Dalits. It is not like those parties which only pretend to reach out to these people. Since coming to power in 2014, BJP has taken many important steps for all these.

Before this election, BJP had changed its CM in Haryana. He removed Manohar Lal Khattar and made OBC Naib Singh Saini the CM. Then in the elections also he was made the CM face. The party has also benefited from this. In the recent assembly elections, BJP won 8 out of 17 seats reserved for Schedule Caste. This is a total of 20 percent of this population. At the same time, BJP has also got about 30 percent OBC voters. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, who was the face of BJP in this election, himself belongs to the OBC community.

This is not the first time that BJP has taken some step keeping Maharishi Valmiki in mind. In January, he named Adhyadhya International Airport after Maharishi Valmiki. According to BJP, it will give the message of truth, morality and spirituality. Apart from this, after coming to power in Haryana in the year 2014, BJP had started various programs regarding saints. In October 2015, the Khattar government named the University of Haryana after Maharishi Valmiki. Since 2016, Valmiki Jayanti is being celebrated in the state on 17 October. In June 2021, the Khattar-led cabinet had converted Kaithal University into Maharishi Valmiki Sanskrit University.

Similarly, on the occasion of the inauguration of Ram temple in Ayodhya in January, Gohna intersection in Panipat was named Shri Ram Chowk and Railway Road intersection was named Valmiki Chowk. During his tenure, Khattar had highlighted the importance of Maharishi Valmiki for the BJP. He had said that the objective of our government is Antyodaya and social harmony. BJP is realizing Maharishi Valmiki’s vision of Ram Rajya through development works. He had said that the contribution of Maharishi Valmiki’s teachings is important in making the country powerful.

Apart from Valmiki Jayanti, the BJP government has also given importance to other saints in Haryana. In June 2022, Khattar had named the official Chief Minister’s residence as Sant Kabir Kutir. In the same year, the Khattar government started the Saint-Great Purush Vichar Samman and Dissemination Scheme. In this, religious names were given recognition in the programs of the state government.
