Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has dismissed a driver for his Facebook post. The driver had raised questions on the functioning of HRTC officials on his Facebook. However, the driver did not write the name of any officer during the post on Facebook.
The driver said in his explanation that his Facebook was hacked. But the HRTC management was not satisfied with his reply and the driver was dismissed from the job. The name of the driver who was dismissed by HRTC is Ravindra Singh and he was posted at Sansarpur Terrace unit of HRTC. Ravindra Singh was accused of using Facebook while on duty and using objectionable words towards HRTC officials.
According to the case, Ravindra Singh had made several comments against HRTC officials on his Facebook page. The post was shared from Ravindra Singh’s Facebook account and it was written that there is no fault in our deeds sir, hence we are not afraid of anyone. The fault lies in your intentions, that is why we neither respect you nor trust you.
It was further written in the post that even if I have to go to jail or die in an encounter, I will take revenge for the atrocities committed by you very brutally. Further questioning in the post, it was written that 7825 machine is sold for Rs 32000, land worth Rs 2.5 lakh is sold for Rs 6 crore 72 lakh, 400 uniform is sold for Rs 2736, in such a situation if not mourning then what should we celebrate?
Show cause notice was issued to Ravindra Singh on these posts by HRTC management. After this he was called to present his side. On September 30, he filed his reply, but could not prove why he had made objectionable comments on Facebook.
The driver had clarified that his Facebook had been hacked, but when asked why he did not lodge an FIR, he could not answer. After this he has been terminated.
A notification in this regard has been issued by HRTC Sub Divisional Manager (Dehra and Sansarpur Terrace) Kushal Kumar. According to this, Ravindra Singh will get financial benefits only for the period between suspension and dismissal (June 11 to July 9, 2024). Apart from this he will not be eligible for any financial benefit.
HRTC has made it clear in the dismissal orders that if any government employee or officer criticizes and condemns the government policies in public forums, then it will be difficult for the employer to implement the government manifesto and policy and the government employees and officers doing so will be punished. The entire credibility of the officer is affected.
