Angelo mathews test retirement: Sri Lankan veteran all -rounder Angelo Mathews has announced to retire from Test cricket. On May 23, 37 -year -old Mathews informed that he would be part of the Test series against Bangladesh in June, but he would play only one match. Debut against Pakistan in 2009
Mathews also started his Test career on the Galle ground when he made his debut against Pakistan in 2009. After a long career of about 17 years, he is bid farewell to Test cricket. During this time he has scored 8,167 runs in 118 Tests and he is at number three in the list of batsmen scoring the most runs in Tests for Sri Lanka. Significantly, Angelo Mathews has only said goodbye to Test cricket. He will continue to represent Sri Lanka in ODI and T20 formats. He has taken 126 wickets with 5,916 runs in 226 ODIs so far. At the same time, he has taken 1,416 runs in 90 T20 International matches and took 45 wickets. Mathews, who has taken a total of 15,499 runs and 204 wickets in his career, is counted among the best all -rounders in Sri Lanka. He has also scored 19 centuries and 91 half -centuries in international cricket. The two -Test series between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will begin on June 17.
