WTC Final Host Country: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) tried to get the World Test Championship (WTC) finalized in India, but the International Cricket Council (ICC) has again given this opportunity to England. According to a report, the next three WTC finals will also be conducted in England itself.
Now India will wait for 8 years
If this remains the same, India may have to wait for 2029-31 seasons to host the WTC final. This decision may be formally announced at the ICC meeting to be held in Singapore in July 2025.
BCCI’s attempt for years waste
BCCI has been trying continuously for the last 6 years to host the WTC final, but the ICC is not giving this opportunity yet. While Jai Shah, who is the former Secretary of BCCI, is currently the chairman of the ICC. Despite this, India has not been able to get hosting.
England becomes permanent hideout of WTC final
All the finals of the World Test Championship (WTC) have been played in England so far. The first final took place in 2021 between India and New Zealand in Southampton. This was followed by the second final in 2023 at the Oval ground in London between India and Australia. Now the third final is taking place between Australia and South Africa at Lord’s. With England hosting for the third consecutive time, it is clear that the ICC currently wants to organize the WTC final there. This has caused India another major setback, which has been trying to host it for the last several years.
