Well, before the start of this tournament a new controversy has arisen. This time the main organizer of the Champion Trophy is Pakistan but Pakistan’s name will not be on the jersey of Team India. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has expressed strong displeasure over BCCI’s decision.
Pakistan’s name not on Team India’s jersey
The Champion Trophy is being organized on this brave hybrid model. This tournament will be played in three cities of Pakistan and Dubai. BCCI had already refused to send its team to Pakistan, after which it has been decided to organize Team India’s matches in Dubai.
Meanwhile, a report has come out according to which Pakistan’s name will not be on Team India’s jersey. Pakistan Cricket Board has expressed deep displeasure over the decision of not having Pakistan’s name on Team India’s jersey. A PCB official said that politics is being done in cricket by BCCI and this decision is not appropriate.
PCB expressed strong displeasure
The PCB official said that it is clear from the steps taken by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that politics is being done by the board. First he refused to send his team to Pakistan. After this, it did not give permission to send its captain Rohit Sharma to the opening ceremony of the tournament.
Now it has come to light that Pakistan’s name will not be on Team India’s jersey. The PCB official said that if this is not politics then what else is. We are confident that ICC will not allow this to happen and justice will be done to us.

After BCCI’s refusal to send Team India to Pakistan, it was decided to organize the Champions Trophy on a hybrid model. Initially pressure was being exerted from Pakistan side but ultimately it had to agree to India’s terms. Now less than a month is left for the start of the Champion Trophy. This tournament will start on 19th February while India will play its first match against Bangladesh on 20th February. The much-awaited clash between India and Pakistan in the Champions Trophy is going to take place on 23rd February. Team India has been announced for the Champions Trophy whereas Pakistan has not yet announced its team.
A total of 15 matches will be played in the tournament
This time eight teams will participate in the Champions Trophy, which have been divided into two groups. A total of 15 matches will be played in the tournament. All the teams will play three matches each in their respective groups and after that, the top two teams from each group will get entry in the semi-finals. The first semi-final will be played in Dubai and the second semi-final will be played in Lahore. If Team India does not reach the final, then the final match will also be played in Lahore, whereas in case Team India reaches the final, the final match will be played in Dubai.
