Champions Trophy 2025: The next edition of the ICC Mini World Cup i.e. ICC Champions Trophy is going to be held in Pakistan. Preparations are going on in full swing by the Pakistan Cricket Board for this tournament which is going to start in February next year, where they are looking very excited about hosting a big event after a long time, but here the biggest tension in front of the Pakistan Cricket Board is about the arrival of Team India, where till now the status of the Indian cricket team touring Pakistan has not been clear.
The suspense continues regarding the Indian team’s visit to Pakistan
8 teams are going to participate in the Champions Trophy to be held from 19 February to 9 March 2025. It is certain that all the teams except India will go to Pakistan to play, but till now the suspense remains about whether Team India will go or not. But BCCI has not been able to take any stand on this. The final decision regarding the Indian cricket team going to Pakistan has to be taken by the Government of India, because there is political bitterness between the two countries and BCCI will not send the Indian team there without the permission of the government.
The board made it clear that Pakistan tour will happen only with the consent of the Indian government
According to information received from Inside Sports, a senior BCCI official said that, “There has been no discussion about the Champions Trophy. Our stand is clear. We will do what the government says. I can understand that it will be a difficult task for Jay Shah as he will be the ICC chief. But he understands the concern and we hope that India’s matches will be shifted to neutral venues. As ICC chief, he will have to change the stance of his father or the government.”
BCCI has talked about organizing India’s matches at neutral venues
The official further added, “Look, it will be difficult for the ICC to conduct the tournament without India. We want the event to go on. It is good for cricket but the stand is clear. We have already asked the ICC to consider shifting India’s matches to neutral venues while keeping Pakistan as the host. If we don’t get the green signal from the Indian government, we will continue to do so.”
