Champions Trophy: There has been an uproar in Pakistan after India’s refusal to participate in the Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan next year. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made it clear that Team India will not go to Pakistan. Pakistan Cricket Board is not ready to organize India’s matches in any neutral country on hybrid model. Along with this, ICC is also considering organizing the Champions Trophy in some other country.
There is a sharp reaction from Pakistan regarding this entire episode. Now two veteran cricketers of Pakistan have fiercely targeted India for their decision of not going to Pakistan. Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi and fast bowler Mohammad Amir have criticized India for this decision. Aamir has even demanded to throw India out of the tournament.
India should be thrown out of the tournament
Pakistan’s fast bowler Mohammad Aamir said on his YouTube channel that a good step for cricket would be to exclude India from the tournament. He said that BCCI’s decision of not touring Pakistan has caused a huge loss to cricket. If the Indian team does not tour Pakistan, then some other team should be given a chance to play in the Champions Trophy in its place. This is a big loss for cricket and this should not have happened.
Aamir said that you cannot cause harm to other teams because of one team. He said that after India’s decision, it would be better to keep India out and include some other team in its place. India’s decision of not playing in Pakistan when other teams are ready to play here is quite childish.
ICC should have the authority to take action
In 2017, Pakistan won against India in the final match of the Champions Trophy and Mohammad Aamir played a big role in this victory. Pointing towards India, he said that if any government politicizes the game then ICC should have the right to take action against its member boards. ICC should have the power to take strict action against any member board. If there is no such rule then other teams can also refuse to visit each other.
Aamir said that I hope that the PCB will reject the demands put forward by India and will remain firm on the decision to organize the Champions Trophy in Pakistan. He said that Pakistan has spent a lot of money on renovating stadiums. PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi is the Interior Minister of Pakistan and it is expected that he will not allow any loss to Pakistan.
differences should be put aside for the sake of sport
Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi wrote on his X account that cricket has reached a turning point and is perhaps facing one of its biggest challenges since the 1970s. Now is the time to put aside differences and unite the game. If countries divided in history can come together in the Olympic spirit then why can’t we do the same for cricket and the Champions Trophy.
Indian team should tour Pakistan
Former Pakistan all-rounder Afridi, without naming India, said that India should make important sacrifices and tour Pakistan next year to participate in the Champions Trophy. As custodians of the game, we are obliged to keep our egos about cricket in check and focus on its development.
He expressed hope that every team will reach Pakistan to participate in the Champion Trophy. He said that I hope to give a warm welcome to every team and that I will leave the field with unforgettable memories.
