Russian billionaire businessman and owner of English football club Chelsea Roman Abramovich has decided to sell his club to help the wounded and victims of Ukraine. Roman bought this club in 2003 and he will sell it for 3 billion pounds i.e. around 30,391 crores. Abramovich said that the decision was very difficult for him.
He said in a statement, ‘I joined this club 19 years ago. This is an emotional moment for me. I have instructed my team that the process should be completed soon.
Since 2003, this club has earned a lot of name in the football world by winning 19 major titles. Recently Chelsea also won the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League.
Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich said: “I want to talk about the speculation that has been going on in the media for some time. People were talking about my ownership of Chelsea. I have said many times before that I have always worked for the club. The decision has been taken on the basis of benefits. In the present situation also I am going to do the same.”
He continued, “I have made the decision to sell the Chelsea club. I think it is better for this club, the fans, the workers here, the sponsors and partners of the club. Will be done as per process. I won’t ask for any loan to be repaid. Buying Chelsea was never business or money for me, it was my passion for the sport and the club. Also, I made my team a charitable Directed to set up the Foundation.
