Very few people would know that leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has also been a part of Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League. He played for Mumbai before joining Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2014. Now he is part of Rajasthan Royals (RR). The franchise, captained by Sanju Samson, has shared a video. In this, in conversation with Ravichandran Ashwin and Karun Nair, Chahal shared a heart-wrenching anecdote. He has told how his life was saved in the IPL 2011.
Hanged from the 15th floor- Chahal said, “Low people know about my story. I have never told this story to anyone. It was in 2013 when I was in Mumbai Indians. We had a match in Bangalore. Then there was Get Together. So, there was one player who was very drunk, I will not name him. He was watching me for a long time and he called me and took me out and hung it on the balcony. ,
Chahal further said, “I held his head with my hand, like this (behind the neck). If I had missed my hand, I was on the 15th floor. Suddenly many people present there came and they took care of things. I was in a state of unconsciousness. He gave me water. Then I realized how responsible we should be when we go anywhere. It was an incident in which I felt that I had narrowly escaped. Had there been even the slightest mistake, I would have fallen.”
When Franklin and Symonds tied Chahal’s hands and feet- Such an incident had happened with Chahal earlier as well. According to The Indian Express, in the year 2011, James Franklin and Andrew Symonds tied his hands and feet in a drunken state and taped his mouth. Both did not remember about it and Chahal remained like this all night. In the morning the cleaner helped him.
Chahal told about this in a podcast, “It happened after winning the Champions League in a hotel in Chennai in 2011. Andrew Symonds was very drunk. I was with them. James Franklin and he tied my arms and legs and said now you have to untie it. He was so much in fun that he taped my mouth and forgot all about me. The party was over and in the morning when a sweeper came, he saw me and rescued me. He asked how long I have been here and I told him, ‘Raat se hi’.”
When the podcast host asks him if Symonds and Franklin apologized to him in the morning, Chahal said, “No, they said sometimes when they’re too drunk, they can’t handle it and they don’t remember anything.” doesn’t last.”
