England wicketkeeper batsman Jose Butler has greatly praised the batting of 14 -year -old young player Vaibhav Suryavanshi of Rajasthan Royals. Butler also described Vaibhav’s batting with Indian legend Yuvraj Singh and the great Brian Lara of West Indies. He said that Vaibhav’s bat swing is like both players and classic.
Lucknow played his first match against Super Giants
Vaibhav Suryavanshi had surprised everyone by debuting in IPL at the age of 14. On 19 April 2025, he played his first match against Lucknow Super Giants, when he was just 14 years and 23 days old. He became the youngest player in the history of IPL. Jose Butler said in a podcast that when Vaibhav came to the crease, he hit a six over the long-off on the first ball. In his first innings, Vaibhav scored 34 runs in 20 balls, causing panic in the cricket world.
IPL scored the fastest century in 35 balls
Stuart Broad said that he was surprised when Rajasthan Royals took this 14 -year -old player in the team. He told that when Vaibhav scored a century, the entire cricket world was discussing that innings. On 28 April 2025, Vaibhav scored the fastest IPL century in just 35 balls against Gujarat Titans. He scored 101 runs in a total of 38 balls. In this innings, he hit many big sixes and targeted big bowlers like Mohammad Siraj, famous Krishna and Rashid Khan.
Comparison with Yuvraj Singh and Brian Lara
Butler said, “Vaibhav is 20 years younger than me, but he was hitting sixes all around on the field. He was also scoring very easily against the world’s best T20 bowler Rashid Khan. He further said, “The flow in Vaibhav is like Yuvraj Singh and Brian Lara. I was surprised to see his technique and confidence.” In a match against Chennai Super Kings, Vaibhav also scored easily against experienced bowlers like Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin. Butler said, “I had watched this match on TV carefully and I thought he is the most influential young player ever I have seen playing.”
