Former Australia leg-spinner Stuart McGill has made some shocking revelations about his alleged kidnapping after nearly 15 months. In April 2021, Australian media reported that Stuart McGill had been kidnapped by some people. Now in a conversation with EN WA Breakfast, the former Australian player said that the way he was treated, you would not want to see your worst enemy being treated the same way.
Stuart McGill said, ‘The day was over. It was getting quite dark, I was locked in the trunk of a car. I protested it, I told him twice, I will not sit in the car, but then it turned out that he had weapons. I didn’t have any other option. They said, we know you’re not involved, but we just want to talk. Then he put me in the car. They kept me in the car for about one and a half hours.
McGill continued, ‘I didn’t know where we were. Who caught me? where were we going I was scared. After this they took off all my clothes and made me naked. beat me up Threatened me and then took me away and threw me. The whole incident lasted for about 3 hours.
Let us inform that this incident happened on 14 April 2021. Four people were arrested in connection with the kidnapping. One of them is the brother of Stuart McGill’s partner, Maria O’Meagher. The case took a turn when two of the arrested accused accused McGill of being involved in a drug deal. Both also claimed that McGill had agreed to accompany them. The kidnapping is absolutely wrong.
However, whose claim is right and whose wrong will be decided in the court. For this, we will have to wait till October 2023, because only after that the matter will reach the court. Because of this, Stuart McGill could not make public some information related to the incident during the interview.
Stuart McGill, who bowled in Test matches for Australia with Shane Warne, played 44 Tests and 3 ODIs for his country. In this he took 208 and 6 wickets respectively. The former leg-spinner had retired from all forms of cricket in 2008. He took a total of 980 (774 First Class, 193 List A and 13 T20) wickets in his career before retiring.
