Everyone was surprised when Team India’s wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant came out to open the innings in the second T20 match against England on Saturday. With the exclusion of Ishan Kishan and Deepak Hooda, everyone was expecting that Virat Kohli would open with Rohit Sharma. But it didn’t happen. Batting first after losing the toss, Rohit and Pant came out to bat. Former India opener Wasim Jaffer made a funny tweet about this.
Actually Wasim Jaffer had made a tweet three days ago in which he wrote. “The Indian think tank should think of getting Rishabh Pant to open in T20s. I think this is where he can shine.” His wish was fulfilled. Dravid and Rohit not only gave Pant a place in the playing XI but also gave him a chance to open the innings with Rohit. He smashed 26 runs in 15 balls which included 4 fours and 1 six and helped India get off to a quick start.
In such a situation, while retweeting his tweet, Jaffer wrote, “Walls also have ears.” Let us tell you that the head coach of Team India, Rahul Dravid is known as the wall. Rohit and Pant got Team India off to a good start. After this, Richard Gleason took the wickets of captain Rohit Sharma, former captain Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant within four balls to push India on the back foot.
Then Ravindra Jadeja’s aggressive batting in the last overs helped the team score 170 for eight in the second T20 International against England here on Saturday. He scored 46 runs in an unbeaten innings of 29 balls studded with five fours. Rohit Sharma scored 31 runs in 20 balls with the help of three fours and two sixes and Rishabh Pant scored 26 runs in 15 balls with the help of four fours and one six.
