Lost by 184 runs in Melbourne test

Gambhir gave strict warning to the players
According to a report published in an English newspaper, after the match ended, Gautam Gambhir talked to all the players in the dressing room. During this, head coach Gambhir not only reprimanded the players but also warned them. Gambhir said that the Indian batsmen did not play their natural game. He was batting as per his wish whereas he should have batted as per the situation.
Referring to his last 6 months of tenure, Gautam Gambhir said that till now he has given complete freedom to the players to play as per their wish but now they will have to play as per the team and situation. Freedom to play one’s own way cannot be given now.
He said in a warning manner that now the players will have to play according to him and the team. If any player does not play as per the decided strategy then it will not be tolerated and that player will be released from the team.
Negligence of veteran batsmen proved costly
During the Melbourne Test match, Team India had to score 340 runs to win on the last day. It was believed that Team India would be successful in ending this test draw but players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant lost their wickets while playing carelessly.
From Team India, only opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal could play as per expectations. He had scored 82 runs in the first innings while during the second innings also he had scored a brilliant 84 runs.
