According to media reports, Priya Saroj’s father, SP MLA from Kerakat Toofani Saroj has said that his family discussed the marriage with Rinku Singh’s father in Aligarh on January 16 and both parties have agreed to the marital alliance. . Toofani Saroj said that her daughter Priya met Rinku Singh through one of her friends, whose father is also a cricketer.
He said, “Rinku and Priya have known each other for more than a year. They both liked each other, but they needed the consent of their families for the relationship. Both the families were against this marriage. Have agreed.” Saroj’s father confirmed that the engagement and wedding dates will be decided after the Parliament session, while the engagement is planned to take place in Lucknow.
Rinku Singh came into limelight when he gave KKR a thrilling win in the last over of IPL 2023 by hitting 5 sixes in one over off Gujarat Titans fast bowler Yash Dayal. Rinku was then part of the KKR team that won IPL 2024. Rinku has been a regular part of India’s T20 team. Rinku is part of the Indian team for the five-match T20 series against England starting from January 22 in Kolkata. Priya Saroj, resident of Karkhiyav village of Varanasi, has been associated with Samajwadi Party for the last few years. Priya was elected to the Lok Sabha (Machhishahar Lok Sabha Constituency) in 2024 from Machhishahar constituency of Jaunpur district. Former Supreme Court lawyer Priya first made headlines when she was campaigning for her father during the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. He also holds an Arts degree from Delhi University and a Law degree from Amity University, Noida.
