Indian women’s team defeated Sri Lankan team by 10 wickets in the second ODI of the 3-match series played at Pallikele International Cricket Stadium in Pallikele. This is India’s 9th win by 10 wickets in Women’s One Day International. They have won against Sri Lanka for the 5th time by 10 wickets. Not only this, the Indian women’s team won this 50-over match 146 balls already. With this, India also took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. India defeated Sri Lankan team by 4 wickets in the first ODI.
In the second ODI, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and elected to bowl. Electing to bat first, the Sri Lankan team scored 173 runs for 10 wickets in 50 overs. Chasing the target, the Indian team scored 174 runs in 25.4 overs without losing a wicket and won the match and the series.
This is the 8th highest partnership for India in Women’s ODIs. Smriti Mandhana scored an unbeaten 94 off 83 balls with the help of 11 fours and a six. Shafali Verma remained unbeaten on 71 off 71 balls. He hit 4 fours and a six during his innings.
Earlier, Indian bowlers laid the foundation of their team’s victory. 26-year-old Renuka Singh Thakur spread her bowling skills. Born on February 1, 1996 in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, Renuka took 4 wickets for 28 runs in 10 overs, performing the best performance of her career.
Renuka Singh was adjudged player of the match. He also bowled an over maiden. Apart from them, the performance of Deepti Sharma (two wickets for 30 runs), Meghna Singh (two wickets for 43 runs) was also commendable.

The hosts ran into trouble early in the innings. Fast bowler Renuka Singh bowled with precise line and length to stun the Sri Lankan top-order by picking up the opening three wickets.
Lower-order batsman Ama Kanchana played an important role in taking the team’s score past 150 runs by playing an unbeaten 47 off 83 balls. Veteran off-spinner Deepti Sharma wrapped up Sri Lanka’s innings with two wickets in the last two balls.
Harmanpreet Kaur said after the match, ‘We were talking about long partnerships. We talked that we need to give 100 percent. The partnership was great. It’s great to have a bowling option. The Indian team will look to clean sweep the series 3-0 by winning the final ODI to be held on Thursday.
