Now only about 10 days are left for the start of IPL 2022. In such a situation, the availability and injury of foreign players remains a matter of concern for many teams. In this episode, the name of KL Rahul’s team Lucknow Super Giants has also been added. The problems of this new franchise seem to be increasing with the news of the injury of England pacer Mark Wood.
In fact, in the Test match against West Indies, Mark Wood’s right hand elbow got hurt and swollen. He did not even bowl in an innings of the match. After this news came out that Jofra Archer was also troubled by the problem of similar inflammation, who has had two operations so far and has not been able to return to the cricket field.
However, there is no official announcement yet that Mark Wood may be out of the entire IPL. But keeping in mind his injury and his problems, the England Cricket Board (ECB) would not like to take any wrong step. This is because after the IPL this year, the team has to play a series against India, then there is the T20 World Cup in October and the ODI World Cup next year.
KL Rahul’s worries do not end here. Four other foreign and key players of the team will remain at the bar for the first few matches. This includes the names of Marcus Stoinis, Kyle Meyers, Jason Holder and Quinton de Kock. Cricket Australia has given NOC to all its players to participate in the IPL on 6 April due to the series against Pakistan.
In this situation, Stoinis will be able to join his team only on 6 April. Apart from this, West Indies is currently playing a Test series with England. For this reason, Holder and Meyers will join Lucknow in the next 4-5 days after travel and quarantine only after the third Test match is over on March 28. Quinton de Kock recently retired from Tests but is part of South Africa’s limited overs team against Bangladesh.
The three-match ODI series between South Africa and Bangladesh will end on March 23. Quinton de Kock will be able to join the team only after this series. That is, keeping in mind the rules of Quarantine and Traveling, etc., he will not be able to join the team till March 26. Lucknow Super Giants will play their first match on 28 March and second match on 31 March. Probably he will be able to join the team from the third match.
