Rajasthan Royals (RR) beat Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by seven wickets in Qualifier-2 of IPL 2022. With this, once again the dream of winning the title of Bangalore got shattered. Virat Kohli was at the forefront of sinking the team’s loot. After relinquishing the captaincy, his performance this year was very mediocre. He could score only two half-centuries and was a victim of golden duck thrice. Before the mega auction, the team retained him by spending a hefty sum of Rs 15 crore. Not only Virat, RCB also performed poorly in Glenn Maxwell and Mohammad Siraj.
Before the mega auction, Bangalore had retained Glenn Maxwell for Rs 11 crore. His performance was also nothing special. He scored 301 runs in 13 matches at an average of 27.36 and a strike rate of 169.10. During this he scored only one half-century. Talking about bowling, he took six wickets. Economy stood at 6.88. The explosive right-handed batsman did not perform consistently well.
Mohammad Siraj was retained by RCB for 7 crores. This season of the right-arm fast bowler has been a forgettable one. He was so helpless that he made an unwanted record of hitting the most sixes in a season. He took only 9 wickets in 15 matches. Economy stood at 10.08. 514 runs in 31 overs.
Dinesh Karthik, Rajat Patidar and Harshal Patel were among the players who performed well for RCB. Karthik played the role of a finisher brilliantly for the franchise. He scored 330 runs in 16 matches at an average of 55. During this, he scored a half-century. The strike rate stood at 183.33.
Rajat Patidar was included in the squad in place of injured Lavneet Sisodia. No buyer was found in the mega auction. He scored a century in the Eliminator and a half-century in Qualifier-2 against Lucknow Supergiants. Apart from this, RCB had attached Harshal Patel with him by spending a huge amount. He also performed brilliantly and took 19 wickets. The economy remained at 7.66 even after bowling in the death overs.
