Despite registering a win over Lucknow Supergiants (LSG), Rajasthan Royals (RR) spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is not happy with his performance and said that he will make a strong comeback in the next match. Rajasthan has to play the next match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Trent Boult and Obed McCoy took two wickets each as Rajasthan registered a 24-run win against Lucknow in their IPL 2022 match at the Brabourne Stadium on Sunday.
After the match, Chahal said, “We wanted that win. We had to win this match to be in the top two. I am a little disappointed with myself, but will definitely come back in the next match. When Hooda was batting well and the leg-side boundary was short, I didn’t want to take any risk. I tried to throw some flighted balls. He tried to hit sixes. So I didn’t want to give any extra runs. So I tried to bowl a little bit faster.”
Chahal added, “When you contribute for the team, you are always happy with it. Everyone is doing well, it’s not like only two people are performing. In every match you can see 2-3 match winners. Regarding Wanindu Hasranga, he said, “Whatever he is doing, I am happy for him because he is like a brother to me. If he or Kuldeep takes a wicket, I will be happy with him.”
Chahal is currently the highest wicket-taker in IPL 2022 with 24 wickets in 13 matches, but he proved costly in the match against Lucknow. He gave a total of 42 runs in his four over spell and took 1 wicket. Let us inform that with the help of the innings of Yashasvi Jaiswal (41) and Devdutt Padikkal (39), Rajasthan scored 178/6.
Trent Boult and Obed McCoy then restricted Lucknow to 154/8. Both took two wickets each. Rajasthan registered a win of 24 runs. This was the first time in IPL 2022 when a team led by KL Rahul had to face defeat in two consecutive matches. They are currently in third place with 16 points, while Rajasthan is in second place.
