Everyone is aware of the funny style of Rajasthan Royals leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. Recently, the franchise shared a video of Chahal with Jos Buttler. In this, Chahal is seen batting and Butler is bowling. A lot of fun was seen between the two. Let us inform that the 31-year-old spinner has performed brilliantly in IPL 2022 with 24 wickets in 13 matches so far and he holds the Purple Cap.
Since joining the Rajasthan Royals team this year, there has been a great bonding between Chahal and Butler. He has repeatedly pulled the leg of the English player by asking him to open with him. In a recent video interview, Chahal joked that he would have surpassed Virat Kohli’s record of 973 runs in a season if he had opened the innings with Buttler.
Chahal said that if he had got a chance to open, he would have surpassed Butler’s 627 runs in 13 matches so far in IPL 2022. During this, he said that he would have even surpassed Virat Kohli’s record of scoring the most runs in a season. He laughed and said that if he had opened, he would have scored a century in every match and would have broken Kohli’s record in just ten matches.
Chahal laughed and said on ESPN Cricinfo’s show Polite Queries, “If I had got a chance to open, I would have broken everyone’s record, not only Jos Buttler. I think Virat Kohli bhaiya’s record (973 runs) is also left for me. I’m about to break that record. I will break that record in 10 matches because I have to score a century in every match, no?”
Let us tell you that the way Butler performed in IPL 2022, it seemed that he would go close to Kohli’s record of 973 runs. However, this does not seem to be happening now. He has failed in the last four matches and that means Kohli’s record is unlikely to be broken anytime soon. He has scored 627 runs in 13 matches so far at an average of 52.25 and strike rate of 148.23. This includes three centuries and three half-centuries.
