Jhansi news: In the aegis of Hockey India and in conjunction with UP Hockey, Punjab won the 15th National Senior Men’s Hockey Championship to be held at the Astroturf Hockey Ground of Major Dhyanchand Stadium, Punjab defeated Madhya Pradesh. Here, the third place battle was won by hosts UP by defeating Manipur.
In the final match, Pratap Lakra gave the team an edge over the first goal in the 28th minute, but after that the players of Punjab dominated. From Punjab, Jugraj Singh, 2, Jaskaran Singh and Maninder Singh, took one goal and reached the score 4-1. Thus Punjab won the championship. Jugraj Singh was adjudged the Player of the Match. For the first third place, the competition took place between Manipur and the host UP. UP defeated Manipur 5–1 in this match. For UP, Saurabh Anand Kushwaha scored 2, Sharad Nand Tiwari, Atul Deep and Shivam Anand scored one goal each. Atul Deep was adjudged Player of the Match.

Chief Hospitality of Minister Sports and Youth Kalyan Girish Chandra Yadav, Pawan Gautam, MLC Rama Niranjan, Ramatirtha Singhal, Mandalayukta Vimal Dubey, DIG Keshav Kumar Chaudhary, District Magistrate Avinash Kumar, Principal Secretary of Hockey India, Bholenath Singh, Director Khel RP Singh, were concluded. The guests were welcomed by Sports Officer Suresh Bonkar, Ramamilan Yadav, former international player Subodh Khandkar. The guests rewarded the winners, runners -up and third -ranked teams.
