Lucknow News: India’s top seeded pair of B. Sumeeth Reddy and Sikki Reddy started their campaign with a spectacular win in the mixed doubles at the Syed Modi India International HSBC World Tour Super 300 Badminton Championship 2024 and secured a place in the pre-quarterfinals.
The first round of mixed doubles matches in the main draw were played on the first day on Tuesday at Yonex Sunrise Babu Banarasi Das Badminton Academy. The matches of other categories of the main draw in the championship will start on Wednesday. In the mixed doubles matches played today, India’s fifth seeds Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto, seventh seeds Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Shivani Gadde also made it to the last 16. In the first round, the eighth seeded Indian pair of Asith Surya and Amrita P had to face upsets.

Chinese pair won the first game
India’s fifth seeds Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto defeated China’s Zhang Han Yu and Bao Li Jing 12-21, 21-15, 21-17. The Chinese pair won the first game. After this, the Indian pair demonstrated excellent jugalbandhi on the court and won the second and third games.
In other matches of the first round of mixed doubles, India’s seventh seeds Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Shivani Gadde defeated India’s Nitin HV and Anagha Aravinda P 21-14, 21-12. Rory Easton and Lizzie Tallman of England defeated Liu Xun and Xu Pei Qi of Malaysia 21-11, 18-21, 21-14.
China’s Zhou Ji Hong and Yang Jia Yi defeated India’s Satwik Reddy Kanapuram and Vaishnavi Khadekar 21-9, 21-12. Whereas the Indian pair of Ayush Aggarwal and Shruti Mishra had to face defeat. The pair was defeated by Thailand’s Fuanat H and Phungpha K 21-14, 19-21, 21-17 in a three-game match. The Thai pair won the first game. Ayush and Shruti won the second game but could not maintain the momentum in the third game.
India’s unseeded pair of Deep Rambhiya and Simran Singhi caused an upset by defeating compatriots eighth seeded Asith Surya and Amrita P. 21-15, 10-21, 23-21. India’s selected Joshi and Kavya Gupta defeated compatriots Navneet Bokka and Ritika Thaker 21-19, 22-20.
