Lucknow News: PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen advance to pre-quarterfinals with spectacular victory.

Lucknow News: In the state capital Lucknow, India’s PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen started their campaign with a good win in the Syed Modi India International HSBC World Tour Super 300 Badminton Championship 2024 and secured a place in the pre-quarterfinals of women’s and men’s singles respectively.

Second seed Malvika Bansod, fifth seed Anupama Upadhyaya reached the last 16 of women’s singles and third seed Kiran George and eighth seed Ayush Shetty reached the last 16 of men’s singles. Along with the Indian pair of top seeds Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto, Shruti Mishra and Priya Konjengbam also secured a place in the women’s doubles pre-quarterfinals.

PV Sindhu made it to the pre-quarterfinals with a spectacular win.

In the women’s singles Olympic silver medalist and top seed PV Sindhu won 21-17, 21-15 against rising Indian star Anmol Kharb in the USD 2,10,000 championship held at Yonex Sunrise Babu Banarasi Das Badminton Academy. of.

Asia Team Championship gold winner Anmol took the lead by playing some excellent shots but Sindhu, who entered the championship after two years, made full use of her experience and won the first game after some struggle. In the second game, Sindhu fell behind initially but made a comeback with strong court coverage. Sindhu will now face the challenge of India’s Ira Sharma.

In men’s singles, top seed Lakshya Sen easily defeated qualifier Sholeh Aidil of Malaysia 21-12, 21-12 in straight games. Second seed Malvika Bansod, who was the runner-up in the championship in 2022, defeated Victoria of Poland 21-16, 21-7.

In women’s doubles, Uttar Pradesh’s Shruti Mishra, partnering with Priya Konjengbam, entered the pre-quarterfinals by defeating India’s Vaishnavi Khedekar and Alisha Khan 21-14, 21-12. UP’s Mansi Singh, who reached the main draw from the qualifiers, was defeated by Thailand’s fourth seed Pornpicha Choikewong 13-21, 21-14, 21-17.

In the first round of women’s doubles, top seeded pair of last edition’s runners-up Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto defeated India’s Ishu Malik and Tanu Malik 21-12, 21-10.
