Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction, 8 franchises retained their 3-4 players but Royal Challengers Bangalore showed no interest in Yuzvendra Chahal, who is in the top-10 list of highest wicket-takers in the tournament. After this Chahal was also accused of demanding more salary from RCB.
According to Chahal, people and fans on social media are still asking him why he asked for so much money, due to which the team could not retain him. In this matter, this star spinner of the Indian team has broken the silence. Chahal says that there was no talk of money with him. Yuzvendra Chahal was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 6.5 crore in IPL 2022 Mega Auction.
Yuzvendra Chahal said in a conversation with the Times of India, ‘They (RCB) never asked me whether I want to be retained or not? They didn’t even tell that they don’t want to retain me. He only talked about three retentions. I was just told that we will go to the auction for you. Neither I was asked about the money nor did I get any offer of retention.
Yuzvendra Chahal Said, ‘The reality is that Mike Hesson (RCB’s director of cricket) called me and said, ‘Listen Yuji, there are three retentions. (Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammad Siraj). If he had asked me whether I wanted to retain or not, I would have said yes. Because money is secondary for me. However, Chahal believes that even though he is no longer a part of RCB, he has a close bond with the team, especially RCB fans.
Chahal said, ‘I got to play a lot of matches with the team. I am emotionally attached to RCB. I never thought that I would play for any other team. RCB has given me a lot, they have given me the platform, they have given me so much love and support, the fans have given me so much affection. Yes, I am emotionally attached to RCB. That’s the most important thing for me. i always my Bangalore Will be loyal to the fans. I love him a lot no matter what happens.
