Shahid Afridi, the former captain of the Pakistan cricket team, is furious over the chief selector of his own cricket board. In Shahid’s view, Pakistan Senior Men’s Cricket Team chairperson Mohammad Wasim’s decisions are foolish. He also warned Wasim not to do such acts during Savera Pasha’s show ‘Game Set Match’ on SAMAA TV.
According to Shahid Afridi, due to such decisions, the career of good young promising boys ends prematurely. During the show, the anchor had questioned him about young cricketer Mohammad Haris. The anchor’s question was whether Haris was given a chance at the international level too soon. They should have checked at home level first. After this, he should have made a debut for Pakistan.
Mohammad Haris, who hails from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was part of the Pakistan team in the recently concluded three-match ODI series against West Indies. However, Haris could not do much in the series. 21-year-old Mohammad Haris did not get a chance to bat in the first ODI against West Indies. But he could not capitalize on the opportunities he got in the remaining two matches. He scored a total of 6 runs (6 and 0) in two innings. Haris has played 23 List A matches so far. In this he has scored 544 runs at an average of 34.
Shahid Afridi slammed the national team’s chief selector Mohammad Wasim for including Mohammad Haris in the team. Afridi said, ‘These people take stupid decisions. If Mohammad Wasim is listening to this, is in the selection committee, then I will tell him. I would not tell Rameez Raja. But don’t do such things.
Afridi said, ‘You are picking a boy from T20 for ODIs. You are making the selection process so easy for the boy on the basis of T20’s two match performance. Meaning, you guys wear the cap of Pakistan to whomever your heart wants. Hey first let him play in domestic cricket. We also want new talent to come, good talent to come. But at least let him play.
Shahid Afridi further said, ‘You had Sarfaraz now. Rizwan is lying with you now. Right now, Rizwan’s cricket is not ending, not bringing another boy on top of him. You would feed Sarfaraz when needed. ok isn’t it Do not do such acts that you are feeding someone in ODIs on the performance of one or two matches of T20.
