The ongoing border tension between India and Pakistan has now started affecting the world of sports. After postponing Pakistan Super League 2025, Pakistan tried to send foreign players out safely but the manner in which it was done has created a new controversy.
Foreign players started leaving Pakistan after a sudden stop on PSL on 9 May. Players like Australia’s Sean Abbott, Ben Dwarshis, Ashton Turner and Mich Ovan left for Dubai on a special charter flight. However, Pakistan Cricket Board used a military airbase Noor Khan to carry him. Whereas Benazir Bhutto International Airport was already available for civil flights in Islamabad.
India objected
It was said on behalf of India that Pakistan is deliberately trying to hide military activities under the guise of civil traffic. In the May 9 press briefing of the Ministry of External Affairs, it was alleged that Pakistan is trying to blame India on international forums with such a strategy.
Stirred after the attack
A missile attack from India in the region occurred a few hours after flying a charter flight from Noor Khan Airbase, causing heavy damage to the airbase. Pakistani media said that the sound of the blast was heard far and wide and the flames were seen on the airbase. With this attack, India also targeted several other military bases in Pakistan such as Chaklala, Sialkot, Pasur, Chunia, Rafiki and Rahmiyar Khan.
Australian newspaper report revealed
Australia’s news medium Sydney Morning Herald reported in his report that the players had safely reached Dubai and from there they have left for their respective countries. David Warner had already left Pakistan, while other players returned to Australia via Dubai.
