The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) recently announced changes to some of the rules of cricket. Mankading was declared run out by Jahan. At the same time, the rule that changed the strike when caught out was removed. According to this, after the catch is out, the new batsman will come on strike whether the other batsman has crossed or not.
Under this, the same rule was applied for IPL 2022 as well. New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham has objected to this. In a tweet, Neesham, who was bought by Rajasthan Royals for the upcoming IPL season, raised his voice against this rule and asked the question, did it ever cause any problems?
Sharing a report of this rule on Twitter, the former player of Mumbai Indians wrote that, ‘I have not yet understood the reason behind this. Has anyone ever had a problem with this rule? This will cause problems for the batsman who is not aware of the conditions of the match. I didn’t like it at all.’
Jimmy Neesham was bought by Rajasthan Royals in this year’s IPL auction for Rs 1.50 crore. Prior to this he was part of five-time champions Mumbai Indians. His IPL career has not been anything special. He has played only 12 matches so far in which he has 61 runs to his name and has also taken 8 wickets.
The 15th edition of IPL will start from 26 March 2022. This time 70 matches will be played in the league stage. The teams are divided into two groups. Each team will play 2 matches each with each team in its group and its counterpart in the other group (meaning at the same place). Apart from this, the remaining teams of the other group will play one match each.
All league stage matches will be played in Pune and Mumbai. A total of 55 matches will be played at the Wankhede (20), DY Patil (20) and Brabourne (15) stadiums in Mumbai. Apart from this, 15 matches will be played at the MCA Stadium in Pune. All teams will play 4-4 matches at Wankhede and DY Patil. The remaining 3-3 matches will be played by all the teams at the MCA Stadium in Brabourne and Pune.
