Ranji Trophy: After the shameful performance against New Zealand and Australia, the veteran batsmen of Team India have proved to be a failure in Ranji Trophy also. After the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made it mandatory to participate in domestic cricket, many stalwarts of Team India came to play Ranji Trophy but their performance in domestic cricket was also very poor.
Team India captain Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal and wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant came to play in the second round of Ranji Trophy today but none of these batsmen could perform as per expectations. This failure of the legendary batsmen has increased the headache of BCCI and Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir.
Rohit Sharma, Rahane and Shivam Dubey were out cheaply.
In Test and ODI matches, Team India captain Rohit Sharma came to play Ranji Trophy match against Jammu and Kashmir today but he could score only three runs. Rohit Sharma came to play Ranji Trophy match for Mumbai after 9 years and 3 months but his performance was very poor. Rohit Sharma faced only 19 balls and scored only three runs during Mumbai’s first innings.
Rohit Sharma became the victim of Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler Umar Nazir Mir. He tried to play the ball over midwicket but the ball went off side and was caught by opposition captain Paras Dogra.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, who came to open with Rohit Sharma, also could not show any magic. He scored four runs off 8 balls and went back to the pavilion after getting out. Umar also dismissed Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dubey cheaply. Rahane could score only 12 runs while Shivam Dubey could not even open the account.
Shubman Gill and Pant also failed
On the other hand, Punjab is facing competition with Karnataka and in this Ranji match, the captaincy of Punjab is in the hands of Shubman Gill. Shubman Gill is considered the star batsman of India but Gill also proved unsuccessful in this match. He entered the field as an opening batsman and played an inning of four runs in 8 balls.
Team India’s wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant also disappointed everyone during the Ranji Trophy match against Saurashtra. Rishabh Pant faced 10 balls and during this he returned to the pavilion after scoring only one run.
In this way, Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubhman Gill and Rishabh Pant, who came to play Ranji Trophy, all four proved to be failures. This failure of the legendary batsmen of Team India has increased the problems of BCCI and team head coach Gautam Gambhir. Yashasvi Jaiswal played some good innings in the Australia tour but other veteran players including Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli proved to be failures.
Now eyes on Kohli and KL Rahul
BCCI has also instructed the leading batsmen of Team India to play domestic cricket and that is why all these great players have come to play Ranji Trophy matches. However, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul are away from Ranji Trophy. Kohli did not take part in Ranji Trophy due to neck pain while Rahul is away from Ranji Trophy due to elbow pain.
However, both these players also have to participate in the Ranji match starting from January 30. Team India has to play an ODI series against England from 6th February and after that they have to participate in the Champions Trophy from 19th February.
