Sachin Tendulkar has picked his best playing XI from the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are not named in this team of Sachin Tendulkar. However, the Indian who was not selected in Team India against South Africa has been made the opener of his team. Sachin Tendulkar has said that he has selected the playing XI only on the basis of the performance of the players this season.
Sachin Tendulkar said in the video shared on his YouTube channel, ‘It has nothing to do with the reputation of the players or their past performance. It is purely based on their performance this season and what they have been able to achieve this season. Tendulkar chose Hardik Pandya as the captain of his team.
He said, ‘Hardik was the best captain this season. He was very clear and proactive. I always say don’t regret, celebrate. If you are able to celebrate, it means the captain is beating the opposition and that’s what Hardik did.
The former Mumbai Indians captain said that he would pick Jos Buttler and Shikhar Dhawan as his openers as he wanted a left-right combination in the opening pair. Jos Buttler is the Orange Cap winner. He scored 863 runs in IPL 2022 including 4 centuries. Dhawan scored 460 runs in 14 matches.
Tendulkar said of Dhawan, ‘He accelerates beautifully and keeps rotating the strike. A left-handed batsman always comes in handy and Shikhar’s experience will also come in handy. He said, ‘Jos Butler was the first choice. I don’t see any player more dangerous than him in this IPL. When Butler moves on, not many people catch him.
He then picked Lucknow Super Giants KL Rahul for No. He is the second highest run-scorer after Rahul Butler with 616 runs including two hundreds in 15 innings. Tendulkar said, ‘I really like his consistency and consistency. He is someone who has the same ability to take singles and hit sixes.
After this Hardik Pandya came at number four. Tendulkar said, ‘He played some important innings. Like KL Rahul, he can hit sixes of his own accord. He has tremendous power, he knows how to hit the ball very well. In fact, Tendulkar wanted to continue the left-right combination, so he picked David Miller for number five.
Tendulkar said, “I will bring another left-handed batsman here because left-right combination is important. There are many such names, but I would go with David Miller. He showed tremendous form, very good consistency and played some important innings. What I saw this season was that he was able to hit all sides of the field. He had proper cricketing shots and was worth watching.
This is followed by the big hit pairing number of Liam Livingstone and Dinesh Karthik. Tendulkar picked Dinesh Karthik as his wicketkeeper. He said, ‘Livingston has the ability to hit sixes, a dangerous player. This is a good position at number six. His bowling will also come in handy. I will ask him to off-spin more often.
Regarding Karthik, Tendulkar said, “He showed extraordinary consistency this season. He looks calm to me. Seeing him in control, when a batsman is calm and has the ability to play 360 degrees, then he becomes dangerous. That’s exactly what Dinesh Karthik did this season. He is a very clear choice for me.
Tendulkar then picked Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal as his main bowlers. Regarding Rashid, Tendulkar said, ‘Everyone has to remember that he is also dangerous as a batsman. He gets success in the middle overs. Their success rate is very high. I have no doubts about them. Shami’s wicket-taking ability helps him to choose in the team.
Tendulkar said Jasprit Bumrah remains the best death bowler in the world despite the emergence of many young fast bowlers this season. For Chahal, Tendulkar said, ‘He is the highest wicket-taker. He always beats the batsman. Rashid will come to bowl with him. If there is a left-handed batsman in the middle overs, then I have the option of bringing in Livingstone and a third fast bowler in Pandya.
Sachin Tendulkar’s IPL 2022 XI: Jos Buttler, Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya (Captain), David Miller, Liam Livingstone, Dinesh Karthik, Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal.
