India’s star shooter Saurabh Chaudhary won the gold medal in the men’s 10m air pistol event on Tuesday at the first ISSF World Cup 2022 this year. Isha Singh won the second medal for India. She won a silver medal in the women’s 10m Air Pistol. India now top the medal tally with one gold and one silver medal. Asian Games gold medalist Chaudhary defeated Germany’s Michael Schwald in the gold medal bout.
Artem Chernosov of Russia won the bronze medal. Its flag was removed because of Russia’s military attack on Ukraine. Chowdhury, an Olympian and Youth Olympic gold winner, was third in the qualification with a score of 584. He finished first by scoring 38 in the last leg of Relay One. He topped the medal tally with a score of 42.5.
In the women’s 10m air pistol event, Isha lost 4-16 to reigning world champion and world number one Greek shooter Anna Korakki in the gold medal bout. Isha had made it to the second semi-final after finishing sixth in qualifying with 578 points among 80 shooters. More than 500 shooters from 60 countries are participating in the tournament.
