Gill clashed with an umpire over the shape of the ball

What is the rule of changing the ball?
According to the rules of MCC to make cricket laws, if the ball shape deteriorates, the umpires change it with the second ball according to the current position of the match. The fielding team is not allowed to choose the ball. Except when the option of the new ball comes, then the decision is that of the captain.
