Team India could not reach the semi-finals in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 being played in New Zealand. She crashed out of the tournament after losing to South Africa in a very exciting match on Sunday. Team India’s opener Smriti Mandhana has not yet recovered from this defeat. She made an emotional post on Instagram on Thursday and reacted to the Mithali Raj-led side’s exit from the tournament.
In her post, Mandhana shared a photo of the entire squad and thanked everyone for supporting the women’s team. She also said that she is very proud of the way the team played in the World Cup and fought till the end.
Mandhana wrote in her post, “I know it’s a little late to post this, but it’s taking time to forget what happened. Of course we didn’t end the tournament the way we wanted, but I just want to say that I am really proud of this team who gave their all and fought till the end. We have received a lot of love and support from you guys and all I want to say is that it means everything to us. Thank you for supporting us in our ups and downs. ,
The Mithali Raj-led Indian women’s team started their campaign in their ICC Women’s World Cup with a win against arch-rivals Pakistan. Team India finished 5th in the tournament and missed out on a place in the semi-finals just one point short of West Indies. India scored 274 in the match against South Africa, but Laura Wolvaardt’s 80 and Mignon du Preez’s unbeaten 52 helped the Proteas win by 3 wickets.
The tournament was great for Mandhana. She was the highest run-scorer for India. Mandhana scored a total of 327 runs at an average of 46.71 and a strike rate of 78.04. He scored two half-centuries and one century in seven innings. In the current World Cup, Mandhana is currently at number five among the highest run scorers. There are two Indian players in the list of top 10 run scorers. Apart from Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur is another cricketer.
