BCCI President Sourav Ganguly spoke openly on the progress of cricket and said that the Indian Premier League (IPL) generates more revenue than the English Premier League (EPL). Talking about the last two decades, the Indian Premier League has played a big role in the development of cricket. The franchise league tournament has evolved a lot since its inception in 2008. As a result, cricketers from all over the world want to play in it to showcase their talent.
Earlier, in an interview to The Indian Express, Jay Shah had informed that the EPL earns $ 11 million in a match from media rights. Whereas IPL’s 9 million dollars. IPL will become the second most lucrative league in the world after fresh media rights sale. Its auction is going on. This time the base price for it is Rs 32,890 crore.
Speaking at The Economic Times India Leadership Council event, he said, “I have seen the game evolve where players like me have earned a few thousand and now have the potential to earn crores. This game is run by fans, people of this country and BCCI, which was created by cricket fans. This game is strong and will continue to grow.”
Ganguly further claimed, “IPL generates more revenue than the English Premier League. It makes me feel happy and proud that the sport I love has become so strong.” IPL 2022 was organized in a big way this year after the addition of two new teams Gujarat Titans (GT) and Lucknow Supergiants (LSG). In the 74-match season, Gujarat Titans won the title by defeating Rajasthan Royals in their very first season.
