Former India captain Virat Kohli has been going through a bad phase of his career for a long time. Since November 2019, no century has come from his bat so far. In the first ODI against England, he could not play due to not being fully fit. He made a comeback in the second ODI, but returned to the pavilion after scoring just 16 runs.
India lost the second ODI at Lord’s by 100 runs. Virat Kohli’s performance in India’s rescheduled Test and T20 series against England was also not very special. Virat Kohli has not been able to reach three figures in the last 77 international innings. Meanwhile, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has backed out-of-form Virat Kohli.
Babar Azam consoled Virat Kohli through social media. Babar shared a picture with Virat Kohli on his Twitter handle and wrote a heartwarming message for former India captain Virat Kohli. He wrote in the caption of the picture, ‘This time (bad times) too will pass. Have courage.’ In the picture, Kohli is seen placing his hand on Babar’s shoulder.
Talking about the second ODI match played between India and England, the hosts scored 246 runs for 10 wickets in 49 overs, batting first after losing the toss.
However, chasing the target, Team India collapsed for 146 runs in 38.5 overs. India lost their first 4 wickets for just 31 runs in 11.2 overs.
Virat Kohli, who came to the crease after the dismissal of Rohit Sharma, looked in good touch. He had hit 3 fours, but on the fourth ball of the 12th over, left-arm fast bowler Reece Topley made him his victim. It was a back off good length ball on the off stump from Reece Topley.
Virat Kohli tried to defend, but the ball took the outer edge of the bat and got caught in the gloves of wicketkeeper Jos Buttler. Virat Kohli has lost his wicket against the left-arm fast bowler 29 times in his career so far.
