Virat Kohli Fined: Today, on the first day of the fourth Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, action has been taken against Team India’s veteran player Virat Kohli for hitting the shoulder of 19-year-old Australian batsman Sam Constas. Within five hours of the incident, which took place during the Boxing Day Test match, the International Cricket Council (ICC) gave Kohli one demerit point and fined him 20 percent of the match fee.
Constas had come out today to play the first test match of his career. This incident happened during the break between the 10th and 11th overs of Australia’s innings, on which Constas also reacted and said something to Kohli. This action has been taken by ICC in this matter. At the end of the first day of the fourth Test match, Australia had scored 311 runs at the loss of 6 wickets.
Virat Kohli clashed with Constas
Sam Constas started his Test career for Australia today. During this, he demonstrated excellent batting. He hit two fours and a six off the balls of India’s legendary fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. After this he had a clash with Kohli.
Actually Kohli was coming back from the non-striker end. Whereas, Constas was moving ahead of the crease. Then Kohli’s shoulder collided with Constas’s shoulder. Both of them collided. On this Constas turned back and said a few words to Kohli.
After this a reply was also given from Kohli’s side. The video of Tu-Tu Main-Main between the two has also surfaced. After this clash between the two, the umpire intervened and calmed the matter by separating the two players from each other.
Fine of 20% of match fee with one demerit point.
Now action has been taken by ICC in this matter. Along with giving one demerit point to Virat Kohli, ICC has also fined him 20 percent of his match fee. In fact, physical contact between players is completely banned in the ICC Code of Conduct. This is allowed only to a certain extent, but if a player intentionally or negligently collides with another player or an umpire or collides shoulder to shoulder, then action can be taken against him. Under this, action has been taken against Virat Kohli.
Kohli escaped suspension action
However, in this case even bigger action could have been taken against Kohli. It is believed that Kohli has escaped the suspension action, otherwise he could have been banned for one test match. This step has been taken by ICC within 5 hours, which is also surprising.
In most of the cases, the action is announced by the ICC after the end of the Test match, but in the case of Kohli and Constas, the action has been announced on the same day. Virat Kohli has been found guilty of ICC Code of Conduct 2.12 and action has been taken against him under this.
Constas’ brilliant batting in the first test
Virat Kohli, known for his legendary batting across the world, has received demerit points for the first time since 2019. Demerit points remain on any player’s record for two years. On the other hand, Constas, who was playing his first Test match, impressed everyone with his batting.
During his first Test match itself, he played a brilliant inning of 60 runs in 65 balls and during this he also hit five fours and two sixes. He faced the Indian bowlers with full confidence.
Former Team India coach Ravi Shastri has also called this move of Virat Kohli wrong. He said that this behavior of Virat Kohli was wrong and unnecessary. A player should not exceed his limits while playing on the field.
