He was able to score only 190 against Australia in the previous Border-Gavaskar Series (2024–25), including a century. The same performance was indicating about his future plans. BCCI has respected Kohli’s decision and confirmed that he will not be part of the team for the tour of England. The board tried to convince them to stop, but Kohli remained firm on his decision. With his retirement, the end of an era in the Indian Test team is being considered. Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli has set a record of scoring 7 double centuries in Test cricket. 36 -year -old Kohli achieved this historic achievement by breaking the records of Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag. His last double century came in 2019 against South Africa while scoring an unbeaten 254 in Pune. This record will definitely take a long time to break.
Kohli is the first batsman to score four double centuries in four consecutive Test series. Earlier, Don Bradman and Rahul Dravid had done this in three series, but Kohli achieved this unprecedented achievement against West Indies, New Zealand, England and Bangladesh, leaving him behind.
