Chandauli News: In Chandauli district of Uttar Pradesh, a serious controversy has come up between the villagers of Imiliadih village of Naugarh tehsil and a lighter accountant over the forest land. For decades, the land on which rural generations have been living from generation to generation, they are allegedly being measured illegally by Lekhpal and pillars are being buried. Against this injustice, a large number of villagers reached the Deputy District Magistrate (SDM) office on Wednesday and submitted a memorandum regarding their demands. This incident questions the functioning of the government machinery and creates concern about the safety of the land of poor villagers.
When the villagers narrated their pain
Seeing the crowd that gathered outside the SDM office, SDM Vikas Mittal met the villagers and heard their problems. Villagers said that the land on which they have been living in Imiliyadih Mauja, they have been measuring arbitrarily by calling it the Lekhpal Devendra Kumar Bhumhari land. The villagers say that this land is actually from the forest and the court additional commissioner, Varanasi recorded it on 3 November 2024 as a forest.
Demand raised in memorandum
The villagers submitted a signed memorandum to the SDM. It had signs of dozens of people including Shivshankar Pandey and Laxman Vishwakarma of Jayamohani village. The memorandum mainly demanded that the Lekhpal Devendra Kumar be taken action on charges of measuring land without any legal order. He also informed that Shivshankar Pandey’s pucca house has already been demolished on this land by the forest department, yet Lekhpal is trying to get illegal possession. Villagers say that if this land is actually Bhumhari, then it should be measured by the order of SDM.
Officials assured action
After talking to SDM, Tehsildar Anurag Singh came out and met the rest of the villagers and understood their point. The villagers also submitted their memorandum to them. After listening to the demands of all, the Tehsildar assured the necessary action as per the rules. Many villagers were present on this occasion including Shivshankar Pandey, Laxman Vishwakarma, Shyamnarayan, Ram Surat, Ram Janma, Survanti, Satyakumari, Indravati, Bela, Pink, Chamela, Asha Devi. This matter is now dependent on the investigation of the officials, which will decide whether these people living for decades get justice or not.
