A target has been set to install about 2.73 crore smart meters in the state, out of which it has taken 35 million meters so far. According to Power Corporation, there is not much difference between the technology of smart meters and old meters. Both meters measure power consumption correctly. Smart meters make the process of reading and billing online. Which will eliminate human intervention. Consumers will not have to wait for the meter reader to come to the house and the billing disturbances will be reduced. According to Power Corporation, some people are spreading rumors that smart meters go fast. Electricity bill comes more than that.
Power Corporation is removing confusion
To remove this confusion, the Power Corporation has launched a special campaign in the entire state on August 20. Under this campaign, 550 smart meters were examined. Which included meters of 20 consumers from areas like Vishal Khand, Chinhat and Indira Nagar of Lucknow. The investigation found that smart meters are giving correct readings. The investigation was the reading equal to the meter. Officials said that there is a provision to install 5 check meters on every 100 smart meter established. If a consumer suspects the meter, his doubt is removed by putting a check meter.

Power Corporation said that the matter of sudden power cut in smart meters is a lie. Electricity consumers are reported to be reduced from time to time through SMS. When the recharged amount becomes 30 percent, 10 percent and zero, an alert is sent through SMS each time. In addition, a 3 -day grace period is given even after the balance is over. Public holidays or Sundays will not cut the connection between 6 am and 8 am. The Power Corporation has sought cooperation in consumers ignorance and development program.
