Now, a new report states that the company is adding Spotify to its app.

According to a report by WABETAINFO, the Whatsapp app is working on bringing spotify integration to the status update section of the app. With this integration, WhatsApp users will be able to share their favorite songs available on Spotify directly in their status updates. The screenshot of the feature shows that the Spotify app will also get a new ‘status’ button in the share sheet besides the current WhatsApp button. On tapping this status button, WhatsApp will generate a preview of the track to be shared. This preview will show information like song name, artists’ name and album cover, which will help to ensure that viewers easily identify the song. In addition, WhatsApp will also add the ‘Play on Spotify’ button to the status update header on its platform. With the help of this button, the audience will be able to play the shared song directly in the music-streaming app.

According to the report, with the introduction of this facility, WhatsApp users will not need to manually copy the link of a song and paste it so that it can be shared in various messaging and social media apps. In addition, the report states that when released, this new feature will be protected by end-to-end encryption, which Whatsapp uses to protect messages, calls and videos shared on its platform. This technique ensures that the details of shared status are visible only to the intended recipient, not even WhatsApp.
