Youtube Ads : Google has found another way to earn from advertisements. Paused videos on YouTube have also been made a new source for advertisements. At first, YouTube started inserting long advertisements in the videos that cannot be skipped for a long time. Now users will not be able to avoid the advertisement even if they pause the screen.
Pause-screen ads were first launched in a limited trial late last year. They were shown to only a few users and were also limited to smart TVs. But now they have been rolled out to all devices. If a user does not want to see ads, he will have to take a premium membership.
YouTube has confirmed that it has widely rolled out pause ads for all advertisers. According to social media posts, when the video is paused, an ad pops up on the side of the screen and the ad continues to play. A Google spokesperson said in a statement – ’This is intuitive for viewers and allows them to learn more about a brand. This has been a beneficial update to the entire YouTube system and is one of the elements of the modern CTV ad experience.’
YouTube first started considering using ads on pause screens with select advertisers in 2023. Google’s Chief Business Officer Philipp Schindler announced last April that advertisers liked the new ad concept.
No new thing
Pause screen ads are nothing new. In the US, streaming services like AT&T’s DirecTV and Hulu also show ads when the screen is paused. According to Amazon’s official blog, some Amazon products like Fire tablets also show ads on the lock screen.
