After the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, 34 people from outside have bought property here. This information was given by the Union Home Ministry in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. These properties are located in Jammu, Reasi, Udhampur and Ganderbal districts of the UT, the ministry said.
“As per the information received from the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, 34 people from outside the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir have purchased property here,” Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said in a written reply.
Article 370 gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir, so that people from outside were not allowed to buy property here. This article was repealed on August 5, 2019. With this the erstwhile state was divided into two union territories- Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh.
‘Terrorist activities decreased after the withdrawal of 370’
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman recently said that after the abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, there has been a decrease in terrorist activities. At the same time, an environment has been created for investment. Sitharaman said these things while replying to the discussion in Rajya Sabha on the budget of Jammu and Kashmir and the supplementary demands for grants related thereto.
Sitharaman had told that after the abrogation of Article 370, 890 central laws were implemented in the union territory. People who earlier had no rights there can now get government jobs and buy land. 250 discriminatory state laws have been removed from Jammu and Kashmir and 137 laws have been amended.
