The results of the assembly elections of five states have also exposed the Shiv Sena. Election Commission data shows that in Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, Shiv Sena has got less votes than NOTA. The Shiv Sena, which is in power in Maharashtra in alliance with the NCP and the Congress, contested the assembly elections in these three states, but was defeated.
In Goa, Shiv Sena had fielded candidates on 10 seats. Everyone has got lost. In Cortalim (55 votes), Quepem (66), Vasco-da-Gama (71) and Sanquelim (99), the army candidates received less than 100 votes. In Goa, NOTA has got 1.12 per cent of the total votes polled while Shiv Sena has got only 0.18 per cent votes.
In Manipur, Shiv Sena contested on six seats. In the northeastern state, NOTA got 0.54 percent votes while Shiv Sena got 0.34 percent votes. In Uttar Pradesh till Thursday evening, Shiv Sena got 0.03 per cent votes, while NOTA got 0.69 per cent votes. Regarding its dismal performance, Shiv Sena’s chief spokesperson Sanjay Raut said that his party got less votes than NOTA as it was short of (currency) notes.
Sanjay Raut said that Shiv Sena got less votes than NOTA because we could not manage ‘notes’ used by BJP. Yet we fought elections in Goa and Uttar Pradesh. Our fight will continue. Victory or defeat is not the end, it is the beginning. We will continue to work.
