If you are a Tata Sky user, then there is good news for you. Actually, the company is cutting the prices of channel packs to attract more and more customers. At a time when service providers in the industry are looking to increase their Average Revenue Per User (ARPU), Tata Play (formerly known as Tata Sky) is reducing it.
The company is reducing the cost of channel bouquets and packs for its users to engage them in an era of over-the-top (OTT) content. But there is a slight twist in the story, because this is not going to happen to everyone. Only select subscribers will get to see the price drop of channel packs. So what exactly is happening, and how will Tata Play execute it? Let us tell you the full details…
Tata is slashing the price of Play Channel packs, leading to savings of up to Rs 100
To make the service more affordable, Tata Play is slashing the price of channel packs for users from last Saturday. With this move, customers will get savings of Rs 30 to Rs 100 on a monthly basis.

In fact, the pay-TV industry is in dire straits due to the growing popularity of OTT and Tata Play believes it would be best if the channel bouquet price comes down. Tata Play currently has over 19 million (19 million) active subscribers.
Harit Nagpal, managing director of Tata Play, told ET that today more people are reducing their plans rather than shaping them. Thus, the company will reduce the price of bouquets, packs and channels for select users, which may force these users to recharge more.

Nagpal said that this is not happening suddenly. The price changes for the users will be done based on their usage history, and only those channels/packs will be removed from their bouquet which they do not use. This will give these users peace of mind to pay only for the service they really want to watch, resulting in savings. This is a good move from Tata Play at a time when the pay-TV industry’s churn rate is increasing every month.
