A shameful incident has come to the fore in Pune, Maharashtra. Where, a minor girl was allegedly raped by her minor brother, father at different times, while her grandfather and distant relative used to molest her. According to the police, these crimes were allegedly committed in the last five years.
A case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for rape and molestation, though no one has been arrested so far, a police officer said. He said that for raping an 11-year-old girl in Pune city’s Bund Garden police station, her brother and father were booked under section 376 of the IPC, while the relative of the victim and her grandfather were booked under section 354 (modesty of the woman) on charges of molestation. A case was registered under assault with intent to breach.
The official said that the victim and her family are residents of Bihar. He is currently living in Pune. Police Inspector (Crime) Ashwini Satpute said, “The incident came to light when the girl shared her ordeal during a ‘good touch and bad touch’ session in her school. She was facing all this for the last five years. Satpute, citing the complaint, said that the father had started sexually harassing his daughter in 2017 and then they were living in Bihar.
He said, ‘The girl’s elder brother started sexually harassing her around November 2020. Her grandfather and a distant relative used to touch her inappropriately. Satpute said that since all the incidents happened at different times and the accused were not aware of each other’s movements, it was not a case of gang rape. He said that sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act would also be added in this case.
