IPL 2022 points table: In the fifth match of IPL 2022, Rajasthan Royals defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 61 runs at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune on Tuesday. Electing to bat after losing the toss, Rajasthan made a mammoth score of 210 for 6 wickets and then restricted Hyderabad to 149 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs. Rajasthan has become the first team of this season to register a win after batting first.
With this win, Rajasthan has secured the number one position in the IPL 2022 points table. This was Rajasthan’s first match this season and the team grabbed the top spot with a thumping victory. Rajasthan now has two points in its account and has become a very good +3.050. Delhi Capitals has now slipped to number two while Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders are at number four.
Talking about the match, captain Sanju Samson scored 55 runs in his 100th match for Rajasthan and scored his 16th half-century. Apart from him, Jos Buttler scored 35, Devdutt Padikal 41, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 20 and Shimron Hetmyer scored 32 runs in 13 balls. For Hyderabad, Umran Malik and T Natarajan took two wickets each while Romario Shepherd and Bhuvneshwar Kumar took one wicket each.
Chasing the target of 211 runs from Rajasthan, the team of Hyderabad could score only 149 runs for 7 wickets after playing the entire over. Captain Kane Williamson (2), Rahul Tripathi (0), Nicholas Pooran (0), Abhishek Sharma (9), Abdul Samad (4), Romario Shepherd (24) could not do much. Apart from him, Aiden Makram scored an unbeaten 57 and Washinton Sundar scored 40 runs. Yuzvendra Chahal took three wickets for Rajasthan and famous Krishna and Trent Boult took two wickets each.
