NEET UG 2021 exam and result is once again in controversy. This time a controversy has arisen regarding a question of Physics in NEET 2021. The controversy has increased so much that the matter has now reached the Supreme Court. A group of students appearing for NEET 2021 for admission to medical UG courses including MBBS admission 2021, BDS admission 2021 have applied to the Supreme Court in this regard.
Let us tell you that the petitioners have appealed to the apex court to direct the National Testing Agency (NTA) to delete one of the physics questions asked in NEET 2021 and re-release the NEET result 2021. A bench headed by Justice DY Chandrachud will hear the matter today. The petitioners allege that the Hindi translation of the question asked in question number 2 in the NEET 2021 Physics paper was wrong. In the Hindi translation of the question there was no mention of ‘dimensions of fluency’, which was part of the question asked in English. Candidates who read and answered the questions in Hindi, their answers were wrong as the translation of the question itself was wrong. It has been said in this petition that due to this mistake of NTA, Hindi speaking students are losing marks and ranks. Not only this, his falling marks and declining position are also likely to affect his future.
It may be noted that as per the NTA policy, if the translation of any question is incorrect, the question asked in English is treated as final and marked accordingly. The NEET 2021 Information Bulletin issued by NTA also clearly states that in case of any ambiguity or doubt in the translation of a question in NEET exam, the English language of that question will be treated as final. Also, the decision of NTA in this regard will be final.
