After attacking Ukraine, the Indian embassy in Moscow said there was no security reason for Indian students to leave Russia. Russia has been banned by many countries and companies after the attack on Ukraine. Some countries have even closed their airspace to Russian aircraft.
The embassy has said that Indian students in Russia are concerned about the disruption of flights and banking services. They may consider returning home. However, security is not a reason for their exit. On behalf of the embassy, this advisory has been issued to the students studying in Russian universities after consulting them about staying there.
The guidelines posted on the embassy’s website made no mention of the impact of severe Western sanctions imposed on Russia after Ukraine’s invasion. However, most of the students’ concerns were related to the repercussions of the sanctions, which have hit the Russian economy very badly.
In the guidelines issued by the embassy, it has been said that there is some disruption in banking services in Russia and in direct flight connectivity to India. If students have concerns about these aspects and want to go back to India, they can consider doing so.
