After the release of ‘Kaagaz’, a film based on the life of the Lalbihari deceased of Azamgarh, the story of people being killed in live documents had attracted attention. But in Gorakhpur, on the contrary, three employees of the postal department have done the job of keeping one thousand dead alive and operating their accounts.
In fact, in the investigation of the case of clearing the amount of more than 50 lakhs by activating hundreds of accounts that were closed for years in three branches including the head post office, the layers of confusion have started opening. By the grace of the officers, the fourth class employee got the responsibility of system manager, so he prepared a complete list of accounts which were closed for years. One by one, he not only activated one thousand accounts, but also sent the pension amount from the postmaster’s ID.
According to sources, the system manager Shailesh also had the ID and password of the postmaster of all the branches. Through him, he used to get the accounts activated by transferring them to other branches. After that, the amount of pension and interest was also transferred in the accounts. After activating two accounts from Siswa Bazar branch, he transferred it to the head post office and also got an ATM card issued on one.
Sent the amount of pension to other accounts along with two accounts from the ID of Senior Post Master. An official said that he transferred the money from some accounts to the accounts of other post offices and pulled it out through withdrawal under pressure. He had withdrawn about Rs 19 lakh from five accounts of Head Post. This includes ATMs and Withdrawals.
It was a coincidence that the CVO section caught the misappropriation of 10 lakh government money in the Kudaghat post office six months ago, otherwise it is not known how long the employees pension in the name of the deceased and interest on the fixed amount in the MIS account would have been used. However, after the matter opened, the employees have deposited 40 lakhs in the UCR account of the department. But by jamming the amount, the crime of the employees increases instead of reducing it.
Two more employees of Head Post Office came under the scanner
Apart from the Head Post Office System Manager, two more employees have also come under the scanner of the investigation team of SSP. It is being told that these employees had issued ATM cards on the activated accounts. On Thursday, it was discussed in the head post office that two more employees have been suspended. However, the officials did not confirm this.
Postmasters of most of the post offices in panic
The IDs and passwords of all the employees and postmasters of most of the post offices in the district used to get the system manager of the head post office through Chennai Mail. If needed, the postmaster would give him the software ID and password. Postmasters and employees of most of the post offices are in panic due to the conflation of more than 50 lakhs in three post offices and the action of suspension. Experts say that daily UD of the branches was done in the evening. Sometimes the postmaster used to take the help of the system manager in case of non-receipt of accounts. The system manager used to book the account of the branch through their ID password.
Preparing to file a case against the accused
Officials are busy preparing strong evidence against the three employees accused of misappropriating more than 50 lakhs in three branches including the head post office. So that case can be registered against these accused. Department’s Director Postal Services BB Sharan told that the investigation team is looking for solid evidence. A case will be registered against all the accused after Holi. Punitive action will be taken against whoever is found guilty in this case.
