A statement by AIMIM MP Imtiaz Jaleel has increased the stir in the political corridors of Maharashtra these days. Jalil said his party may join hands with the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance led by Shiv Sena to stop the BJP from coming to power. However, Shiv Sena rejected Jalil’s offer. The other two constituents of the MVA – the NCP and the Congress – said that the AIMIM should prove that it is a like-minded party and not the BJP’s B team.
Jalil had said on Friday that the AIMIM was ready to forge an alliance with the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). He said that when NCP leader and state minister Rajesh Tope came to his house on Friday to mourn the death of his mother, he said this. He had said, “It is always alleged that BJP wins because of us. To prove this allegation wrong, I proposed to Tope that we are ready for an alliance.
‘No question of alliance with AIMIM’
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena leader Ambadas Danve alleged that there was no question of an alliance with AIMIM as the party had always opposed ‘Vande Mataram’ and hoisted the green flag here by removing the saffron flag. He said, “AIMIM is a party which runs on the ideology of ‘Razakar’. The question of shaking hands with him does not arise.”
‘Those who bow their heads in front of Aurangzeb’s tomb, they…’
Jalil said that in Uttar Pradesh, AIMIM had proposed an alliance with Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party, but “they want the votes of Muslims but Asaduddin Awaisi does not want them.” Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut rejected Jalil’s suggestion saying that those who bow before Aurangzeb’s tomb may not be acceptable to Maharashtra.
Raut said – AIMIM’s secret alliance with BJP
“AIMIM has a secret alliance with the BJP, which has been proved in Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. AIMIM is and will be the ‘B’ team of BJP. MVA is a three-party alliance and there is no room for a fourth partner here.” AIMIM is considered as the B team of BJP.
