Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar is called a speedster and that is why he was called as ‘Rawalpindi Express’. Akhtar is called a speed merchant because no fast bowler has bowled faster than him in the history of world cricket. No bowler has been able to break Akhtar’s fastest ball record till date. Akhtar made the record of bowling the fastest ball for the first time in world cricket at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Akhtar once again recalled the same Gaddafi Stadium where he played his last Test match at home. This match was played in 2006.
The former fast bowler wrote in the caption accompanying the video posted on his Instagram, ‘I think this is the last test match at home played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore in 2006. It was great to see the return of Test cricket in Gaddafi once again since that dreaded dawn in 2009. It took 13 years. In the video, he is seen talking about his shoes with Dean Jones. Jones died in Mumbai in September 2020.
Akhtar has said this dangerous morning because in March 2009, there was a terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lohar. Since then, for many years, countries have refused to visit Pakistan for security reasons. Test cricket is going to return once again at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, which is to be played between Pakistan and Australia from tomorrow i.e. March 21.
